Hunter Valley Wedding Venues for Bridal Prep (2026 Guide)
After 18 years of bridal hair and makeup across the Hunter Valley, these are the venues that consistently deliver an exceptional morning in the Hunter Valley.

The Hunter Valley is one of the most beautiful wedding destinations in Australia — and if you’re getting married here, you already know that. What you might not have thought through yet is exactly where you’re going to get ready on the morning. After 18 years of doing bridal hair and makeup across the Hunter Valley, I’ve worked at almost every major wedding venue in the region. The venues I’m sharing in this guide are the ones that consistently deliver a getting-ready experience that matches the beauty of the wedding itself.
The Convent
The Convent is genuinely one of my favourite places to spend a wedding morning. There’s a stillness to it — the heritage architecture, the beautiful gardens, the sense that this building has held a lot of important moments over the years. Brides who get ready here tend to feel it too.
Something about the space just slows everything down in the best possible way, and that calm makes my job easier and your morning more memorable.
Rydges Resort Hunter Valley
Rydges is one of those venues where the getting-ready morning feels like it’s part of the celebration itself. Set right in the heart of the vineyards at Lovedale, the light through those windows on a clear morning is something else — soft, golden, the vines stretching out as far as you can see.
I’ve done so many weddings here and it never gets old. It’s relaxed and resort-style, but with that unmistakably Hunter Valley magic just outside the door.
Chateau Elan at The Vintage
Chateau Elan is the Hunter Valley’s premier luxury resort wedding venue, and nothing else in the region quite matches it for sheer polish and scale. The resort’s commitment to five-star service extends through every part of the wedding experience — including the getting-ready morning, which at Chateau Elan feels genuinely pampered.
The bridal suite at Chateau Elan is exceptional. I’ve worked in a lot of bridal suites across the Hunter and Newcastle, and Chateau Elan’s ranks among the very best — ample space, beautiful light, impeccable finishes, and that particular sense that every detail has been considered. For brides who want their getting-ready experience to feel as luxurious as the rest of their wedding day, Chateau Elan delivers without compromise.
Planning Your Hunter Valley Wedding Morning
Whichever venue you choose, here are a few things I always recommend for Hunter Valley brides getting ready on the morning:
- Book your bridal hair and makeup artist early — Hunter Valley wedding dates fill quickly, particularly spring and autumn weekends. If you’ve secured your venue, get your beauty team locked in immediately.
- Have your trial before finalising your style — especially for updos and anything with extensions. The trial is where we discover what your hair actually does, not what you think it does.
- Factor in travel time for your artist — I travel to all Hunter Valley venues from my base in Cameron Park. Most Hunter Valley venues are 45–60 minutes from Newcastle, which I factor into my start times and travel fee structure.
- Prepare your skin and hair well in advance — start a consistent skincare and hair care routine 8–12 weeks before the wedding. The best bridal looks start with genuinely healthy skin and hair.
If you’re planning a Hunter Valley wedding and want to talk through your bridal hair and makeup, I’d love to hear from you. Get in touch and let’s start building your dream morning.
