With 18 years of bridal makeup experience, I’ve worked with hundreds of brides across Newcastle, the Hunter Valley, Port Stephens and the Central Coast. I take a skin-first approach — working with your complexion, not over it — to create a finish that looks beautiful in person, photographs flawlessly, and lasts the full day without needing constant attention.

The Looks
Finding Your Bridal Makeup Style
There’s no single bridal makeup look — only the one that makes you feel most like yourself, elevated. Here’s how I think about the main style directions:
Natural & Boho
A “no-makeup” makeup look that enhances what you already have rather than covering it up. Think flawless skin, softly defined brows, a warm wash of neutral colour on the eyes, and a your-lips-but-better finish. Brides who choose this look want to see themselves in their photos — just the best, most glowing version. It works beautifully in natural light and suits relaxed outdoor settings, vineyard ceremonies, and intimate celebrations.
Soft Glam & Romantic
The most popular bridal style — and for good reason. Soft glam & romantic sits in that perfect middle ground between natural and full glamour. Warm peach and copper tones, softly defined brows, a gentle smoky eye, and luminous skin. It reads beautifully from across the ceremony, holds up through the reception, and photographs flawlessly under any lighting. Versatile enough to suit almost every bride, venue, and dress style.
Classic & Timeless
A little more definition, a little more intention. Muted tones, a sculpted cheek, defined eyes, and a polished lip — balanced and deliberate. Classic bridal makeup earns its name because it doesn’t date. It reads beautifully across every lighting condition, from morning getting-ready shots through to evening reception photos, and it’s the look you’ll still love when you’re looking back at your album in twenty years.

Bold & Sophisticated
Full, confident, intentional. An intense smoky eye or a deep, dramatic lip — this is for the bride who knows exactly who she is on her wedding day and wants that to show. Done well, bold bridal makeup isn’t heavy or overdone; it’s striking and considered. These looks suit evening receptions, strong venue aesthetics, and brides who wear full makeup regularly and feel genuinely comfortable in it.
Modern Luminous Glow
Radiant, lit-from-within skin with a hint of shimmer and a fresh, dewy finish. This look is less about a defined style and more about a quality of light — highlighting the high points of the face, layering reflective products into the skin, and building something that feels alive in photos. It suits brides who love a contemporary, editorial feel and want to look like the best version of themselves rather than a bridal archetype.

Airbrush
Airbrush vs Traditional Makeup — The Honest Answer
Airbrush foundation has a reputation for being the premium choice — and in some ways it is. But it’s not automatically better for every bride. Here’s my honest take:
- ●Airbrush applies foundation in ultra-fine layers using compressed air, building coverage without the product sitting on the skin the way a traditional application can. The finish is very natural and very even.
- ●It’s genuinely long-lasting. For full-day outdoor events — vineyard ceremonies, beach weddings, long summer receptions — airbrush holds up exceptionally well in heat and humidity.
- ●It suits all skin types, including oily and combination skin. It’s also excellent for brides who find traditional foundation looks heavy or cakey in photos.
- ●It is buildable. A common misconception is that airbrush only gives light coverage. In skilled hands it can deliver full coverage without looking like a mask.
- ●I include airbrush as standard — there is no additional charge for airbrush foundation. If I think traditional application will serve your skin better on the day, I’ll tell you at the trial and we’ll decide together.
Preparation
Getting Your Skin Ready
The best canvas makes everything easier. Here’s what I recommend to every bride in the months before the wedding:
- ●Start working with a consistent skincare routine at least three months out. Cleanser, moisturiser, SPF. Simple and consistent beats complicated and sporadic.
- ●If you’re considering any skin treatments — peels, laser, injectables — do them early. Nothing new in the final six weeks.
- ●Stay hydrated. It sounds obvious but it genuinely shows in the skin on the day.
- ●Get a good night’s sleep the night before if at all possible. No skincare product compensates for genuine tiredness.
- ●On the morning, apply your normal moisturiser and let it absorb fully before I arrive. No SPF on top — I’ll work with what’s already on your skin. Do not apply any other products.

The Trial
Your Bridal Hair Trial
The trial is where we nail your look before the wedding day. We’ll work through your reference images, try the colours and techniques that suit your colouring and skin type, and land on a result you love — one that we can then recreate efficiently on the morning.
Come to your trial with clean, moisturised skin. Bring your reference images — screenshots from Instagram, Pinterest, anywhere. The more you show me the better. If you have a specific dress neckline or accessory that affects the makeup direction, tell me about it.
I’ll also use the trial to assess your skin — its texture, how it holds product, whether airbrush or traditional application is the better choice for you. By the end of the trial you’ll know exactly what you’re getting on the day, and I’ll know exactly how to deliver it.
Trial cost is $150–$300 depending if your having just makeup, or both hair and makeup. The trial fee is separate from your wedding day booking.
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you do both hair and makeup, or just makeup?
I do both — and for most of my brides, that’s exactly how they book me. One artist for hair and makeup means one trial, one morning schedule, one point of contact, and a much more relaxed getting-ready experience. If you only need makeup, that’s absolutely fine too.
Is airbrush makeup included in your pricing?
Yes. I don’t charge extra for airbrush. If airbrush is the right choice for your skin on the day, we’ll use it — and if traditional application serves you better, we’ll use that. We work it out at the trial.
How long does bridal makeup take on the morning?
For the bride alone, allow approximately 60–75 minutes. For bridesmaids and other members of the party, I’ll build the morning schedule around the full group size. I’ll give you a detailed timeline once I know your party numbers.
Do you travel to my venue?
Yes — I come to you. I travel to venues, hotels, vineyard villas and private residences across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, the Hunter Valley, Port Stephens and the Central Coast. Everything I need comes with me.
What should I bring to my makeup trial?
Come with clean, moisturised skin and no makeup on. Bring reference images — the more specific the better. If you have a dress photo or can describe the neckline and overall style of the wedding, bring that too. If you have any known skin sensitivities or allergies, let me know before the trial.
How far ahead should I book?
For peak season dates — October through April — I’d recommend enquiring 12–18 months ahead. Saturdays in the Hunter Valley and Newcastle in particular book early. If your date is sooner, get in touch anyway — I’ll always let you know honestly if I have availability.
