The short answer
Fingal Bay is the beach at the end of the Tomaree peninsula, and Bellus drives out to it. Amanda Frost works in the beach house, the resort room or wherever the party has landed for the weekend, so nobody has to leave the bay on the morning of the wedding. Fingal Bay is a Port Stephens booking, so a $150 to $200 travel fee is set out in your quote before anything is locked in.

Fingal Bay is where the road runs out. Past Shoal Bay, over the hill, and the beach opens up with the spit reaching out to the island and the national park standing over the whole thing. It is a small place that fills with wedding parties every summer, mostly in holiday houses booked a year ahead, and it is one of my favourite mornings to work. Nobody is in a hurry here, which is exactly the right mood for the two hours before a ceremony.

I bring everything to you. The kit is fully mobile and packed for coastal work, which matters more here than it does in town: the products I use are chosen to hold in sea air and strong glare, not to look good in an air-conditioned room. Beach houses are the usual setting and they are good ones, with a kitchen bench and a big window between them making a better working space than most hotel suites. I set up, work the party through, and leave the room the way I found it.

How much does hair and makeup cost for a Fingal Bay wedding?
Bridal hair is $160 and bridal makeup is $160, so the bride is $320 for both. Bridesmaids are $150 for hair and $150 for makeup, mothers of the bride and groom are $130 for makeup, and flower girls start at $60. Fingal Bay is inside my Port Stephens travel band, so a $150 to $200 fee is added and confirmed with your quote. Trials are $150 each at my Cameron Park studio, and a $300 deposit holds your date.
Do you work at Saltwater at Fingal Bay?
I do, and it is the venue most Fingal Bay enquiries are about. The morning usually starts in accommodation nearby and finishes at the venue, and I will build the timeline so the party arrives finished rather than still being pinned in the car park. We have rented a beach house for the weekend. Can you come there?
Yes, and that is how most weddings on this beach work. Holiday houses here are set up for a crowd, which suits a bridal party better than a hotel room does. Send me the address and the ceremony time when you enquire and I will work out the running order from there.
How do you keep hair and makeup right in the sea air?
Salt, wind and glare are the whole brief on this beach. I use waterproof formulas around the eyes, airbrush foundation where you want the longest wear, and I set everything properly before I leave. For hair, anything loose gets more grip than it looks like it needs, because the spit and the headland are both exposed.
Is a ceremony on Fingal Beach different to plan for?
Only in timing. Sand, wind and the walk down to the beach add minutes, so I would rather finish the party a little early and have you waiting than have the photographer waiting. Tell me where the ceremony is and how far the walk is when you enquire, and that goes into the timeline.
