Wedding Diaries Editor’s Choice Award
Wedding Makeup, Central Coast
Wedding Makeup at Your Central Coast Accommodation
A Central Coast makeup artist who drives in is not the same thing as one who lives there, and I would rather say that on the first line than have you find out later. Bellus is based at Cameron Park, between Newcastle and Lake Macquarie. Terrigal is a bit under an hour from my door, Woy Woy is more, and I make that drive for weddings all year because the coast gives a wedding morning something nowhere else does: the water outside the window before anyone has said a word.
I have been a makeup artist for 18 years and a hairstylist for 24, and Bellus has held the Wedding Diaries Editor’s Choice Award for the Central Coast, and three other regions, four years running. On the day I come to wherever you are staying, from Wyong and Tuggerah down through Terrigal, Avoca, Copacabana and MacMasters Beach to the Gosford side of the water, with the full kit and, for parties larger than four, a second stylist at no extra cost.
The booking a Central Coast makeup artist who drives in article deals with the drive honestly, including the case for booking someone local. This page is about the mornings themselves, because a beach wedding, a garden wedding and a resort wedding ask for three different things from your makeup.

Beach Weddings
Makeup for a Beach Wedding on the Coast
Terrigal, Avoca, Killcare, a surf club at Killcare Beach or a lawn above the sand: a beach ceremony is beautiful and it is hard on makeup, because wind, salt air and a warm afternoon all work against a base at once. So on the coast I usually build on airbrush, which is included at no extra cost. Thin layers, set properly, hold through a windy ceremony on the sand in a way a heavy traditional base does not, and they still read as skin in the photographs rather than as coverage.
The eye and the lip get the same thinking. Waterproof where it matters, a lip that survives the champagne, and nothing with a shimmer that will flash back in the photographer’s light on the beach at four o’clock. The airbrush versus traditional article explains when I would still choose traditional, because some skin asks for it whatever the weather.

Garden and Hinterland Weddings
Makeup for Garden and Valley Weddings
Somersby Gardens, Glenworth Valley, Yarramalong, Palmdale Orchard: the hinterland weddings are softer on makeup and softer in the light, and they suit the looks brides ask me for most. Soft glam and romantic bridal makeup sits beautifully in dappled garden light, and a natural boho look with glowing skin is made for a valley ceremony with a farmhouse behind it.
These are usually the mornings where the party gets ready in a rented house or a cottage on the property, which means I am working with whatever light the room has. I set up at the window, bring what I need to see colour properly, and finish the bride last so she is freshest when the photographer walks in. The Central Coast weddings page lists the venues I know across the hinterland and the coast.

Resort and Hotel Weddings
Makeup for a Resort or Hotel Morning
Crowne Plaza Terrigal, Pullman Magenta Shores, Kantara House and Mercure Kooindah Waters are the easy mornings: a proper suite, good light, the ceremony a lift ride or a short walk away. The makeup can go a little further here. A classic and timeless look reads beautifully in a hotel ballroom under evening light, and a modern luminous glow suits the polished, editorial feel of a resort wedding.
Bigger parties tend to book these venues, and Bellus is set up for parties of three to fourteen. Above four people I bring another stylist at no extra cost, everyone is built into one timeline, and I take one wedding a day so nothing else is pulling me down the motorway at noon.

Travel, Timing and Pricing
What a Central Coast Makeup Booking Costs
Bride makeup is $160, bridesmaids $150, wedding guests $140 and mothers of the bride and groom $130, airbrush or traditional, individual lashes included. Hair and makeup together is $320 for the bride and $300 for each bridesmaid, with a minimum of three people. A Central Coast booking carries a travel fee of $150 to $200 depending on where you are staying, confirmed with your quote, and a $300 deposit holds the date. The full list is on the pricing page.
The drive changes one thing about your morning, the start time. The bride is about two hours, everyone else 45 to 60 minutes a service, and I leave Cameron Park early enough to be in the room before the first person is due. Trials are at my Cameron Park studio, $150 for makeup and $150 for hair, and most coast brides pair the trip with a fitting or a venue visit. Getting married closer to home? See the makeup artist Newcastle page, where there is no travel fee at all.

What Brides Are Saying
★★★★★
Amanda was amazing for my wedding day. I completed a trial session so we could work out was would look best. This made the wedding day even easier, as she knew exactly what I wanted. My bridesmaid and flower girls looked beautiful and she efficiently worked around us as we organised the ceremony at the same time! I would recommend Amanda at Bellus if you have a wedding or special function - I will certainly be calling Amanda for my next special event. Thank you for making my day everything I dreamed of.
★★★★★
Amanda’s professionalism and attention to detail is exactly what every bride needs on her big day. From our first meeting, to the trial and the wedding day, having her as my hair and makeup artist made me feel like I had one less worry on the day. She understood my vision and helped guide and tweak things until they were perfect. She was amazing with the organisation of every person involved in getting ready on the day (both hair and makeup of 7 people). She was on top of everything and willing to go that extra mile to make sure each and every person was happy with their end result. Amazing work by an amazingly talented woman! Wish I could do it all again! Thank you Amanda!

Central Coast Makeup Artist, Questions Brides Ask
How much does a makeup artist cost for a Central Coast wedding?
Bride makeup is $160 and bridesmaids $150, airbrush or traditional with individual lashes included. Hair and makeup together is $320 for the bride and $300 for a bridesmaid, with a minimum of three people. Central Coast bookings carry a travel fee of $150 to $200 depending on where you are staying, confirmed with your quote.
Do you travel to the Central Coast, or are you local?
I travel in. Bellus is based at Cameron Park, between Newcastle and Lake Macquarie, and Terrigal is a bit under an hour away. Every wedding-day service is mobile, so I come to your accommodation from Wyong down to Woy Woy. For a very early ceremony at the southern end of the coast a local artist is sometimes the better booking, and I will tell you if that is the case.
Does the drive change my wedding morning?
Only the start time. I build the run sheet backwards from your ceremony and set my own departure from Cameron Park to arrive before the first person is due in the chair, so the drive is absorbed before your morning begins rather than during it.
Will beach wedding makeup last in the wind and salt air?
Yes, if the base is built for it. On the coast I favour airbrush, which is included at no extra cost, layered lightly and set hard so it holds through wind on the sand and a warm afternoon. Which base suits your skin is decided at your trial.
Where is the trial, and what does it cost?
Trials are held at my Cameron Park studio. A creative bridal makeup trial is $150 and a hair trial is $150. Most Central Coast brides combine the trial with a drive up for a dress fitting or a venue visit.
How far ahead should I book?
Saturdays in spring and autumn go 12 to 18 months out. A $300 non-refundable deposit holds your date, and I take one wedding a day, so once yours is booked it is the only morning I am running.
