the Hunter Valley, it is this: “Amanda, which venue should we choose?” I have spent nearly
two decades travelling to weddings across the Hunter — Pokolbin, Lovedale, Broke,
Rothbury, Wollombi and beyond — and I have had the privilege of being part of celebrations
at a huge range of venues across the region.

So I put this guide together as a genuine resource for couples who are just starting to look. It
covers every Hunter Valley wedding venue I know of — more than 70 of them — in
alphabetical order, with a short description, guest capacity and contact details for each one.
My honest feeling about each venue is in the description. I hope it helps you find your perfect

This one ticks so many boxes I love to see in a Hunter Valley venue — views over the Brokenback Range, a fully air-conditioned barn, BYO flexibility and accommodation sleeping 24 guests across two houses. The Hay Shed is a brilliant wet-weather backup and the whole property just feels relaxed and generous, which is exactly the energy a wedding day deserves. Perfect for couples who want a countryside celebration where they can genuinely make it their own.

Albion Farm Gardens

Location: Woodville, NSW Capacity: Up to 100 (ceremony)

If you want a ceremony venue that will genuinely take your breath away, Albion Farm Gardens is hard to beat. Twenty-five acres of lovingly maintained gardens on a 100-acre working farm, with five beautiful outdoor ceremony sites — the Wisteria Walk, Boston Ivy Rotunda, Boathouse Garden, ornamental lake and a stunning restored antique timber barn with five hanging chandeliers. The Woodville School of Arts across the road handles receptions beautifully. It is a ceremony-only venue, but what a ceremony it will be.

Anambah House

Location: Anambah (near Cessnock), NSW Capacity: Up to 250 seated

Anambah House is one of those venues that makes an impression before you even arrive — wrought iron gates, a tree-lined drive and then suddenly a 19th century estate with a private lagoon and sweeping green paddocks in front of you. The heritage barn is stunning, styled with vintage chandeliers, white drapery and hardwood tables for up to 250 guests. Catering is by Doltone House with an Italian-inspired menu. This is the venue for couples who want grandeur with genuine heart.

Ben Ean Winery

Location: Pokolbin, NSW Capacity: Up to 300 seated (courtyard) / 110 seated (function room)

Dating back to 1886, Ben Ean has one of the most epic settings in all of Pokolbin — a heritage-listed courtyard that can seat up to 300 guests, a magnificent 200-year-old fig tree for ceremonies and vineyard views to the Broken Back Ranges that are simply gorgeous. There is a more modern function room for smaller receptions of up to 110 guests too. If you love the idea of a big, historic Hunter Valley winery wedding, this one deserves a site visit.

Bimbadgen (Palmers Lane)

Bimbadgen Palmers Lane was purpose-built for weddings and it shows — everything about this venue is considered and beautiful. Vineyard rows, open skies, mountain views and a reception space that works equally well indoors or under the stars for up to 130 guests. The on-site accommodation has recently been given an impressive makeover and now sleeps up to 120 guests, making it one of the most complete all-in-one wedding weekends in the Hunter Valley.

Bistro Molines at Tallavera Grove

Perched on a ridge with sweeping views across the valley to the Brokenback Mountain Range, Bonvilla Estate has that warm, family-owned character that makes a wedding feel genuinely personal. The architecturally designed cellar door with its impressive fireplace and huge barn doors is a beautiful space, and the estate villa sleeping up to 12 guests makes for a lovely, intimate celebration. I always enjoy getting to know boutique properties like this one.

Chapel Mon Coeur

Chapel Mon Coeur is one of the most unique ceremony venues I know in the Hunter Valley — an open-air modern chapel sitting within a Chardonnay vineyard in the heart of Lovedale, with those beautiful Brokenback Ranges as the backdrop. It comes fully set up with chairs, signing table and a pop-up bar, and there is a separate outdoor reception area right next to it for marquee events. BYO catering gives couples great flexibility. It is genuinely stunning.

Chateau Elan at The Vintage

Chateau Elan at The Vintage is a full destination experience — a luxury resort with lavish accommodation, an 18-hole Greg Norman designed golf course, an award-winning day spa and a range of gorgeous indoor and outdoor ceremony and reception spaces. The rustic sandstone chapel, built from stones salvaged from an 1843 homestead, is one of my favourite ceremony spaces in the entire region. With the Fairway Rotunda and multiple reception rooms for up to 150 guests, it is perfectly set up for couples who want an unforgettable wedding weekend rather than just a single day.

Circa 1876 is part of The Escarpment Group's gorgeous estate alongside The Convent, and it is a beautifully rustic heritage cottage restaurant set in lush Pokolbin gardens. Seating up to 120 guests, it has been one of my favourite Hunter Valley reception settings for years — there is a warmth and intimacy to the space that is hard to manufacture and impossible to ignore. The estate grounds are wonderful for ceremonies and photography.

Cranky Rock Wollombi

Down in the secluded Wollombi Valley, Cranky Rock is a relaxed and rustic BYO venue for couples who want to put their own stamp on their celebration. Set in beautiful bushland with on-site accommodation and a naturally gorgeous backdrop, it suits intimate weddings and more creative, festival-style gatherings perfectly. There is a lovely freedom to events here.

Cypress Lakes Resort

Dark Horse Vineyard

Dark Horse is one of those venues that looks beautiful from every angle — a modern barn- style reception space surrounded by manicured gardens and vineyard views, seating up to 170 guests. Sunset here against the Brokenback Range is genuinely stunning and the boutique on-site accommodation sleeping 6 is perfect for the bridal party. It blends sophistication and rural charm in a way that photographs incredibly well.

It is the home of local music festivals and that same spirit carries through to events. Goosewing Cottage

Goosewing Cottage is the Hunter Valley's most beloved micro wedding and elopement venue and I completely understand why. The open-air paddock chapel on this scenic farm stay 15 minutes from Cessnock is simply beautiful. All-inclusive packages start at just $3,595 for two guests, including a celebrant and photographer. Grays Inn Wollombi

Hanging Tree is a family-owned boutique winery set on 40 acres and the Brokenback Range at sunset from this property is one of the Hunter Valley's most gorgeous views. Reception on the deck of the homestead with that backdrop is a very special experience. If you are drawn to the old-school, genuine Hunter Valley farm aesthetic, this one is worth visiting.

Vines Restaurant at Hollydene Estate in Jerrys Plains is one of the Upper Hunter's hidden gems. The estate's wines and in-house catering are excellent. I love that this one feels genuinely off the beaten track — a beautiful drive and a venue that surprises you.

It genuinely feels like a Spanish escape, right in the middle of Pokolbin.

Krinklewood Estate

La Pera Estate

La Pera Estate is home to one of the most recognised wedding chapels in the Hunter Valley — the former Lovedale Wedding Chapel — seating 108, with the Brokenback Ranges and Watagan Mountains as the backdrop. La Vigna Estate

La Vigna is a boutique family-owned venue set within beautiful vineyards with a historic chapel built from original 1917 convict-pick sandstone blocks. Seating up to 90 guests, with four on-site houses and three pools sleeping 38 — it is a genuinely wonderful setup for a private, weekend-long vineyard celebration where everyone gets to stay and be together. One of my personal favourites for that reason.

Leaves & Fishes

Leaves and Fishes is honestly unlike anywhere else in the Hunter Valley — 20 acres of lush tropical gardens around a tranquil lotus lake, with six reception spaces scaling from 20 to 180 guests and eight ceremony sites. The private sunken garden for dinner under the stars is extraordinary. BYO catering, five boathouse villas on the lake sleeping 12 guests and a genuinely magical atmosphere. If you want something truly unique, this is it.

Stylish, relaxed and genuinely bespoke — Margan takes everything seriously so you do not have to.

Marlu Station

Peppers Creek is one of those Hunter Valley venues that has become iconic for good reason. The intimate sandstone chapel set among the vines — where the walls literally open to the breeze — is one of the most beautiful ceremony settings in the region. And the Barrel Room reception space with its 20-foot ceilings, Indian elephant doors and grand stone fireplace, seating up to 180 guests, is unforgettable. A consistently wonderful venue that I never get tired of visiting.

Peterson House Wedding Chapel

Peterson House Chapel is one of the most practical and genuinely beautiful ceremony venues in the heart of Pokolbin — seating up to 200 in air-conditioned comfort with the vineyard marquee for receptions of up to 140. The cherry blossoms in spring make August through October a truly special time to marry here. An experienced venue team and a central Pokolbin location make it an easy choice for couples visiting the Hunter Valley for the first time.
